The British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) is leading a call for the establishment of a Permanent Provincial Housing Policy Roundtable.

This body would ensure housing policy makers have a clear and direct voice from the stakeholders in organized real estate in BC.

The roundtable would be comprised of representatives from:

  • local governments
  • Indigenous housing organizations
  • market and non-market housing sectors
  • academic experts
  • provincial and federal housing ministries

Why a roundtable?

Put simply, the idea is: Better process, better policy.

Recent housing policy legislation and regulations have been criticized by experts and academics as being unimpactful and ineffective. A roundtable of stakeholders on the front lines of delivering housing in BC will help ensure future housing policy is evidence-based and reflects the needs of local communities.
