Recommendation process
GVR's Board Development Committee (BDC) has a mandate to guide a year-round process to ensure there are always candidates with the necessary skills, experience, competence, character, and commitment for members to choose from in GVR’s annual Board of Directors election.
The BDC uses a best practice followed by many large organizations worldwide: the recommendation process. Companies like Vancity, Coast Capital, and Apple use a recommendation process. It's designed to ensure that director candidates are carefully evaluated based on critical criteria, allowing for an informed and efficient election.
After completing interviews with the assistance of a third-party, and reference checks, the BDC determines which candidates meet the criteria for directors. Candidates who meet the qualifications and demonstrate the necessary leadership skills will receive a “recommended” status. This status will be highlighted on the voting platform during the election.
Voting period
On the morning of January 23, you'll receive an email with the voting link. You can also access the voting site from our member website and member news blog. The names of both recommended and non-recommended candidates will appear on the ballot.
We'll send reminders to vote throughout the voting period.
You can only vote once during the voting period. If you experience technical difficulties, call us at 604-730-3000.
