Reminder: Province-wide PDP changes coming January 1
Beginning January 1, 2026, all REALTORS® in British Columbia will be required to complete 21 Professional Development Program (PDP) hours each PDP cycle when renewing membership – an increase from the current 18 hours.
In line with all other boards and associations in the province, Greater Vancouver REALTORS® (GVR) updated our rules on November 28, 2025 to reflect the new requirement. These revisions will ensure our governing documents align with the new provincial education standard and reflect the requirements that take effect in 2026.
Why this change matters
This increase is part of a profession-led initiative that began with the Professionalism White Paper we published in 2023. Together, we’re taking another step to raise the bar in real estate practice.
For brokers, this change also creates an opportunity to recognize in-house training as self-directed PDP, helping you support your teams while meeting the updated standard.
What's next
If your membership renewal falls in the first half of 2026, we’ll be reaching out directly with reminders and links to free and self-paced courses.
