Obituary: Tina Mak
REALTOR® Tina Mak passed away in early January. She was 60.
Tina immigrated to Vancouver from Hong Kong in 1991. She was first licensed in 1992 with NRS Westburn Realty Ltd. She became a broker in 1998 and was most recently with Macdonald Realty.
Tina was a proud Realtor for 33 years. She was known not only for her professional excellence and market expertise across Metro Vancouver, but for her people-first approach. To Tina, real estate was never just about property—it was about trust, family, and building long-term relationships rooted in care and respect.
She was also a prolific voice in media, hosting a weekly radio show on AM 1320 CHMB for nearly 20 years covering real estate, business, technology, culture, and more. She’s hosted and appeared on real estate podcasts, panels, and conferences, always displaying her unique passion for the profession.
She had a keen business sense and direct style, always underpinned by her core principles of putting people first and maintaining the highest levels of professionalism. She was a tireless advocate for continuing education, collaboration, and communication. One example was her graciously sharing her story in our DEI video series.
Beyond her professional achievements, Tina’s greatest gift was the way she loved. She was fiercely loyal, deeply generous, and profoundly connected to her circle—family, friends, colleagues, and clients alike. Tina had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, supported, and protected. She was a confidante, a leader, a sister in spirit, and a constant source of strength for those lucky enough to know her.
Tina leaves a legacy defined by love, loyalty, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the people and communities she cared for. Donations may be made in Tina’s memory to First Tee – BC or to any charity that feels meaningful to you.
