REALTOR® Firoz Lakhani passed away on January 6, 2025. He was 80.

Firoz was born in Uganda and moved to England at age 10. He followed family to British Columbia and settled here, becoming a prominent commercial Realtor who worked with large development firms like Bosa.

Firoz dedicated much of his professional life to volunteering with GVR. He was a president of the former ICI/Commercial division before serving as a director and eventually became GVR president in 1993.

Friends and colleagues remember Firoz as a natural but humble leader who was knowledgeable, dedicated, and personable. He had a warm, engaging personality that made people feel instantly at ease, and he was highly sought after for his ability to bring people together and get things done.

He was a key figure in the purchase and development of our current office building at 2433 Spruce Street in Vancouver. In 1994, as the immediate past president, Firoz was part of the ceremony to open what was then our new office to much fanfare among civic leaders, staff, and members.

Firoz is survived by his wife, Nafisa, his siblings, and many nephews and nieces.
