The Chief Information Officer Association of Canada (CIOCAN) has honoured GVR’s CIO Shari Wallace with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

This national honour recognizes IT executives whose career accomplishments significantly shape the profession and strengthened the community of Canadian technology leaders.

Shari joined the Greater Vancouver REALTORS® (GVR) in 2023 to lead our IT strategy, cybersecurity, systems management, and digital transformation.

“Under Shari’s guidance, GVR has pursued a deliberate path of system modernization and service innovation for our membership,” said Jeff King, GVR CEO. “We are fortunate to have a leader of Shari’s calibre and character guiding our vital technology infrastructure.”

A legacy of transformation

Shari’s career highlights include senior leadership roles in both the private and public sectors. Before joining GVR, she was CIO at Triumf, Canada’s national particle accelerator centre, where her leadership helped modernize and streamline that organization’s IT infrastructure.

Prior to joining Triumf, she served as CIO at the City of Burnaby and in senior IT roles at Telus and the City of Vancouver.

Shari is also a part-time lecturer at Simon Fraser University and volunteers with various organizations to promote mentoring, executive education, and support for leaders in the technology industry.

Recognized for leadership, collaboration, and community impact

CIOCAN defines Lifetime Achievement recipients as leaders who drive positive change, not just within their own organizations, but across the sector.

Shari embodies that spirit through her commitment to excellence, her mentorship of rising professionals, and her collaborative approach to problem solving.

On behalf of everyone at GVR, please join us in congratulating Shari on this well-deserved honour.
