Greater Vancouver REALTORS® is looking for members to serve on the Professional Conduct Committee.

This committee plays an important role in maintaining the professionalism and integrity of our profession. Members review complaints related to the REALTOR® Code and the Rules of Cooperation, helping ensure our profession continues to operate with fairness, accountability, and professionalism.

If you have a strong understanding of the rules that guide our work, and a reputation for professionalism among your peers, this is an opportunity to contribute your experience and make a meaningful impact on your profession.

Serving on the committee is also a way to get involved with your association and help shape how professional standards are applied across our membership.

GVR also aims to maintain a balanced committee representing different:

  • licence types
  • geographic areas
  • brokerage affiliations
  • professional perspectives

What the committee does

The Professional Conduct Committee reviews complaints involving potential breaches of the REALTOR® Code or the Rules of Cooperation and determines the appropriate next steps.

Committee members help ensure:

  • complaints are reviewed fairly and objectively
  • professional standards are upheld across the membership
  • members are held accountable to the rules that guide our profession

Qualifications

Members applying to serve on the Professional Conduct Committee should have:

  • a strong working knowledge of the REALTOR® Code
  • a strong understanding of the Rules of Cooperation
  • several years of industry experience
  • a reputation for professionalism and ethical conduct
  • the ability to review cases objectively and fairly

This role is not intended as a way to learn the rules. Applicants should already have a strong understanding of the standards governing the profession.

Commitment

If you’re selected to serve, you must commit to:

  • A mandatory full-day orientation
  • Minimum of a half-day, in-person meeting at the GVR office every two months (typically 2nd Thursday of the month)
  • Several hours of preparation before every meeting, as the reading materials can vary from few to thousands of pages depending on evidence and complexities
  • Participation in investigative sub-committees between regular meetings that require in-person attendance at interviews, advance preparation, and follow-up deliberations
